There is a word that I've always enjoyed: retro-futuristic. It's a description of how people of the past imagined the future to be. It's the best way there is to describe these robots by Takeji Nakagawa. Each one is handmade from wood, and while they are all clearly robotic they are also incredibly warm and inviting. Each one seems to beg to be touched and held, and they're all beautiful.
While I've seen many robotic toys made of metal and tin, and I've loved a few of them, these are the first robot toys that seem organic, while still keeping a strong feeling for the original designs. The pictures are great, but I would love to see some of them in person; this is something I could see myself spending a lot of money on.
